Broken Foot Healed

C. C., NJ

I was painting the trim on my house recently, and, as I was moving a very heavy ladder, it came crashing down and landed on my foot — right on my instep. The pain was excruciating, and the foot swelled immediately. The picture was pretty nasty.

As I prayed for myself, one thing I thought of was a statement from that week’s Lesson: “I will put My law in their inward parts.” I prayed, knowing that God’s law is in the “inward parts” of that foot, protecting, rejuvenating, and healing. The pain stopped quickly. I know the foot was broken, because when I tried to walk, I could feel something moving in it.

I called a Plainfield practitioner for help. The practitioner told me, “It never happened in divine Mind.” It was no more true than a bad dream. Wow! If it never happened, there’s nothing that has to be rejuvenated or repaired! I knew that was the answer, and I rejoiced in that fact, knowing that an idea of God can never be hurt. How can you hurt an idea?

She also gave me this statement from Science and Health on page 397 to work with, “When an accident happens, you think or exclaim, “I am hurt!” Your thought is more powerful than your words, more powerful than the accident itself, to make the injury real.

Now reverse the process. Declare you are not hurt and understand the reason why, and you will then find the ensuing good effects to be in exact proportion to your disbelief in physics, and your fidelity to metaphysics, confidence in God as All, which the Scriptures declare Him to be.”

The practitioner prayed for me, and within two days, the swelling was completely gone, and the foot was normal and perfect in every way.

I am so grateful to God and the practitioner for this wonderful, quick healing. I was able to do everything I normally did, didn’t miss any time from work, and very few people even noticed anything was different. Thank God for Christian Science!
