Tear in the Placenta Healed Through Prayer and Babies Born

Mara, MS.

I would like to say how grateful I am that I found this church and how special the Plainfield Christian Science church really is. The fact everything is given freely to anyone and everyone is so beautiful! And such a special purpose!

It is so helpful to have any and every service at your fingertips to listen to day and night whenever you need it. Also, the inspirational weekly Bible Lessons along with the Daily Watches that are always just what is needed for the week! Not to mention all the inspirational and informative literature available again, free of charge.

I also love the Wednesday testimony meetings, to hear everyone using Christian Science in a practical way. I am so grateful for the help and support of my Plainfield practitioner along with all the workers at Plainfield.

I really love the Unity Watches we can join here at Plainfield. There’s something so special about coming together in prayer for our world, for the services, and for each other. It’s such a comforting feeling to know these prayers truly make a difference.

I wanted to share a time in my life when I saw the power of prayer firsthand. My mother became a Christian Scientist when I was younger, and I grew up seeing the way she prayed and how often those prayers brought about amazing results.

Later on, when I was about three months pregnant with twins, I could tell something was wrong. I called my doctor and also reached out to my mom, who said she’d be praying for me. After doing an ultrasound, the doctor found a tear in the placenta of one of the babies. He told me there wasn’t much he could do but put me on bed rest and wait. He said there was a chance it could heal.

I was incredibly worried, but I also knew the best thing I could do was rest, lean on God, and on the prayers of my mom. A week later, when I went back for another ultrasound, the tear was completely healed. Both babies were fine. Five months later, I delivered naturally, without medication or surgery, and both babies were able to leave the hospital with me in perfect health.

It wasn’t until a week later, after I delivered the babies, that we met with the doctor and he said how it was really a miracle that the pregnancy made it to term. He didn’t want to tell us at the time but usually when a tear in the placenta occurs the pregnancy is lost.

I’ve always felt that this was the result of prayer, my mother’s prayer, and God’s Love. And now, being part of this church, I’ve come to learn how important it is to grow in our own understanding of God and of Christian Science. Learning how to pray for ourselves and others, and to really understand who we are as God’s reflection, is such a gift. I’m truly grateful.
