Your Spiritual Development is All That is True About You
by Mary Beth Singleterry
“All forms of error support the false conclusions that there is more than one Life, that material history is as real and living as spiritual history…” (Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, page 204) This is an important statement to clasp hold of, especially when memories of the past try to aggressively enter thought. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:15, “God requireth that which is past.” All that is true about the past is your spiritual development, how you have made spiritual progress, and how you have grown closer to God. Anything else is the Adam dream – merely a passing dream that should never be considered real or true. It is certainly nothing to ever ruminate about. You are giving it a life that it does not possess on its own, and you are also missing out on the blessings God is bestowing upon you in the eternal now. “Why search the future and the past? Why do ye look with tearful eyes and seek far off for paradise? Before your feet, Life’s pearl is cast.” (hymn #391)
