Mouth Pain Healed Through Prayer

Shahidat, Maryland

I want to express gratitude for a recent healing that I had. I had a week-long stay across the country, where I started to experience what seemed like pain underneath my tongue. At first, I ignored it, assuming it would fade away on its own. However, the pain seemed to spread from my tongue to my throat and ears, and I found it difficult to eat. I started to pray about the discomfort, but the pain seemed to persist. Almost two decades ago, I experienced a major medical event that resulted in a long-standing physical claim that, according to the medical professionals, was supposedly caused by an untreated abscess in my mouth. So, while praying about this current issue, that past experience kept coming up, indicating there was a lingering fear that still needed to be addressed. I decided to text my Plainfield practitioner for help. She reminded me promptly that this suggestion of pain was not spiritually true and that truth removes properly whatever is offensive. I accepted this truth and kept it at the forefront of my thoughts. Additionally, a phrase we’ve heard repeatedly at the Sunday Roundtables kept coming to me. The phrase is when the hydra head rears its ugly head, I don’t have to listen because nothing is being said. Whenever I felt this pain, I reminded myself that nothing is being said and that the truth of my identity as an expression of God can never be tarnished. Shortly afterwards, I was enjoying my meal again, completely pain-free. I am so grateful for the powerful Christian Science teaching I found here at the Plainfield Christian Science Church, Independent, and for the ready help of my most excellent practitioner who’s always prepared to set my thought to the right.
