God’s Timing Perfect

Izzy, England

I would like to share something that happened recently, which was really wonderful and which I still don’t fully understand, but I’m so grateful for. One day every week I pick up two children from school and they spend the evening with us. I had appointments on that day. I had clumped several appointments together as they were geographically close together, but a little distance away. I knew that I was pushing it a bit close to get back for school time, but if everything went well, I should have been just in time for the end of school. Unfortunately, it didn’t go quite to plan. I was a little late setting off. The first client was a lovely lady who lives on her own, we had just finished her job and now that it was over she was ready to chat. I knew she would not see anyone else that day, as she was unable to leave her apartment. I stayed longer than I had expected, and we had a good chat about everything, and eventually she told me she was such a worrier. As a result, I ended up leaving her with the article “God’s Law of Adjustment,” by Adam Dickey, which I had in my handbag. The second appointment turned from just one bathroom needing a refurb into a bathroom and then a separate wetroom, with quite a lengthy discussion with the client and her elderly father, about his needs and what would work for him. The last appointment went well, although it was a tricky project and needed some good talking through. As I left the final property, it was 2:40 pm. School was out at 3, and it was at least a 35-minute journey to get there. As I drove off, I wondered about contacting the school, although I don’t have the number. I wondered about contacting the children’s mum, but something told me not to. I just concentrated on driving back and prayed all the way, to know that “we live, and move, and have our being” in the Kingdom of God. I didn’t look at the time; I just left it all in God’s hands.

I arrived at school – somehow – at 3 pm. I parked and walked over to the school, and as I entered the playground, I was ahead of many of the parents; the children had still not yet been let out. I absolutely could not believe it. I didn’t drive particularly fast, and the traffic was busy as normal. It made no sense that I was on time, except it made God’s sense. I’m so grateful for Christian Science and the wonderful opportunities it gives to live with joy, freedom, and confidence, and I continue to be so grateful to Mrs Eddy for all that she did to bring it to us. As I write this testimony, I have just listened to the beautiful reading of “Is There No Death?” from Unity of Good, by Mrs Eddy, which was linked at the bottom of today’s daily email. It’s just amazing, what a gift she left us with Christian Science, and I am so grateful for this opportunity to walk in its light.
