Wait Patiently on God
Nancy, NJ
This morning the thought came to me to look back through some of my old notebooks and journaling that I have written since coming to the Plainfield Church. My heart just filled with gratitude as I reread the wonderful priceless gems of Truth they contained, all taken from the teachings and instructions I have been given from my steadfast, loving Practitioner and from all the Roundtables, lessons, Bible studies and teachings receive here at Plainfield, and also from articles on our website, all of which has helped me to gain a better understanding of Mrs Eddy’s pure Christian Science.
Since coming to this Church, one of the things I have been striving to learn is to better understand what it means to wait patiently on God. I found in my notes the following: “This waiting patiently is actually a time to quietly draw closer to God.” I wanted to share a few lines from an article I found on our website titled “ Patient Waiting” by Helen Hixon, that I jotted down. “ To wait doesn’t mean to sit idly by with folded hands. The qualities of patience, humility, courage, loving kindness, right activity, and perseverance are called into use during the waiting time….It means to silence the temptation to believe in the power other than God; to quiet fear, to renounce aggression, oppression and the pride of power,“ as Mrs Eddy tells us in Science and Health; to seek to understand God more fully and to be willing to allow Him to lead and to guide, even though it be along stony paths.” I was so grateful to rediscover this beautiful article!
