Desire is prayer: Defying Time

Cristiana, Mexico

I am very grateful for the wonderful things that reveal God’s presence in everything in our lives. Last Thursday, I had planned to attend the members’ meeting. I really wanted to attend it by phone. However, in the afternoon, I had to run some chores on the street with my son, which took longer than I thought. When I looked at the watch, I realized that it was already late and that I would not be able to get home by 8 p.m. I began to pray about time. In Christian Science, we learn that God gives us dominion over the belief of time. I decided not to look at the watch anymore. I just kept my thoughts on the divine Mind and in God’s will. And then everything opened up. Among other things, my son had to have some photos taken at a photo studio. At first, they told us it would take half an hour to deliver the photographs. But suddenly, they delivered them in 10 minutes. To get home quickly, we tried to take a taxi, but there were none available. Well, we had to take a bus, then another one that was waiting for us, and they were going very fast.

So, we got home, as though we were pushed by the wind. Nevertheless, I wasn’t sure we were going to make it. Finally, I looked at the watch; it was 8:10 p.m. That was fine. Considering what we accomplished and how far we traveled, it was a miracle of the Spirit that I was able to attend the meeting. And I felt very grateful for that. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health that desire is prayer, and I have confirmed this many times. It has also happened to me at the Unity Watches. On several occasions, when I left work a little late, with just enough time to get to prayer, everything opened up so that I could arrive on time. Everything was at hand: the elevator in my office, the bus at the station, the elevator in my home. I didn’t have to wait for them; they were on time, like waiting for me. I am grateful to the practitioners of this church because I know how much their preparatory prayer helps us to attend this very important moment of prayer. Nothing can hinder God’s plans for those invited to the banquet to fulfill His vineyard. I am very grateful to God and His Christ for the opportunity to know and practice Christian Science, for being a member of this wonderful Plainfield church, for the metaphysical support of my practitioner, for Jesus Christ, and for Mary Baker Eddy.
