Protection During Severe Winds

Nancy from NJ

I’m very grateful for a beautiful demonstration of protection received through prayer late Monday evening. Over the weekend, they were forecasting severe weather for most of New Jersey. The forecast was warning of “strong to severe” storms on Monday, excessive rainfall, very high winds, and the possibility of tornadoes.

I’m so very grateful for the diligence of our Plainfield Weather committee, who immediately sent out a weather Watch alert when they first predicted these storms, so we were able to begin our prayers ahead of time to counter this forecast. Although they predicted the storms to start in my area early afternoon, it wasn’t until later Monday evening that the rain and winds started to pick up in intensity.

Around 11 that evening, we started receiving tornado alerts on our phones for our immediate area. Shortly after this, very intense winds came through. The sound of the wind seemed quite frightening at first, but the words “peace be still” came to me. I kept silently declaring “peace be still, for God is All,” and “He alone is the only power, the only presence, and He holds the winds in His fist.” Very quickly, the winds started to fade away, and all was still. Although the lights flickered a few times, we never lost power for a minute, and the next morning, as I checked our property, I was amazed and so grateful to see that despite the extremely high winds that passed over us, all of our trees were perfect, no fallen trees or broken limbs, and only a few branches on the ground. My husband told me that the local news was tracking a tornado activity trying to form just a mile from us, but it never was able to form.

I’m so grateful to God for the power of prayer and for the prayers of another family member during this time. It was very clear to me that we were all safely sheltered under our loving Father’s almighty wing, for which I am so very grateful.
