Heaviness During Lent Lifted Through Prayer

Cristina, Mexico

For many years during Lent and Holy Week, like many people, I lived this time as a heavy, sad, and depressing experience. In a mostly Catholic country like Mexico, that is how it is lived, placing great emphasis on the Passion of the Christ, his suffering and the crucifixion. This creates an atmosphere of silence and sadness, and the main focus of the joyful and the fundamental message of the Resurrection is almost lost. Many people cry and feel truly affected. And it is believed that this is appropriate, that it is normal, the only way to go through this commemoration. Although I never took part in the Catholic processions of suffering during those days, it clearly affected my mood in some way, even in recent years, and I lived through this week wishing it would pass quickly.

When I arrived at Plainfield, in the Roundtables and Unity Watches, I finally learned that this hypnotic influence can be broken through prayer, because it is definitely not something that comes from God. I finally realized that I could overcome these false concepts with the help of the Christ and, through prayer, help clear away the dark mental clouds of animal magnetism for others. I am very grateful that this thing has left my life. This year during Holy Week I focused entirely on the wonder of the resurrection. I had plenty of time to pray, read, study, and great joy came to me. I am so grateful to my dear practitioner for providing me with deep metaphysical support during this time. Thank you so much, dear God, and I also give thanks for our two dearest prophets: Jesus Christ and Mary Baker Eddy.
