Applying Precepts from the Roundtable to Overcome Agitation

Michaela, Canada

I am very grateful for all the activities of this church, especially for last Sundays Roundtable, where the article “The Practice of Christian Science” by Bicknell Young was mentioned. I started to read this article yesterday. Today I had the opportunity, as I was getting very agitated about another person, to go back to this article. I read, if “we realize that I AM is God, and I AM is Life, and the Soul and the Mind and the Spirit of every individual, … [we] will realize that we are not dealing with a lot of people, but with God, infinitely and individually expressed as people.” There is lots more in this article. But this sentence helped me to overcome the temptation to be agitated. I told myself that I don’t need to be agitated. I can turn this around and see that I am one with God, and other persons are one with God, and we are all one in God. There is no reason to be agitated, but to see God right where the problem seems to be.

I am very grateful for this hint at the Roundtable and all the good examples given there. There was another tip about how to deal with gloomy conversations, when we are out with other people. It was suggested, that we could research and prepare interesting topics that we can talk about and turn around the conversation to be more uplifting. This is so practical, I never thought of it, but I am so grateful for this and the opportunity to implement it in my life.
