Being Unselfish is a Blessing

Phil from Australia

I would like to express sincere gratitude for the Plainfield Christian Science Church, Independent website and to all those involved for their dedication in this holy mission of global outreach and to all those providing the content, written and audio, and preserving its integrity. Our 24/7 reading room freely available to all. As Mary Baker says, “feeding the famished affections” throughout the world and in many different languages.

Being down under, I’m particularly appreciative to have the Bible lessons, services, Bible studies, testimony meetings, and weekly Roundtable available as audios due to the time differences. Surely, this is an expression of God’s governance of all time and space that these and all the other precious holy content including of early workers who were like the disciples of Mary Baker Eddy are freely available accessible anytime anywhere to all honest seekers for truth.

I listen to the audios as podcasts on my phone and was also excited recently to find the transcript function for the weekly testimony meetings, Roundtable and Bible studies to peruse at leisure and study and to read the articles and references discussed at those meetings. What a blessing that transcript function. And if you haven’t used it, do check it out.

I love the Roundtable which are like class instruction. The recent one with the theme, “Cling Steadfastly to God” was discussing the virtue medicine of “kindness,” which reminded me of a situation last week where I was due to visit some elderly housebound neighbors. The mortal mind arguments started that I’m so busy. I have many chores to do. I don’t know what to talk about, etc. I quickly realized that this was selfish, inward-thinking human will, certainly not the outward loving expression of the divine Mind which was directing my day; and that visiting them not reluctantly, but with a good heart was the right idea.

So I did, and it was a lovely time filled with joy and gratitude. The conversation flowed because God’s love was with us and lifts us up and blesses us all. I was so glad to have this opportunity and to see love reflected in love and to feel the real joy of God in action.

Thanks to God our Father-Mother, to Christ Jesus our way shower, and to Mary Baker Eddy the revelator of Christian Science to the world, and to dear Plainfield Christian Science Church, Independent for carrying on her holy mission.
