Son Healed of Social Anxiety
Lynda, NJ
I want to express my gratitude tonight for the learning I am receiving at the Plainfield Christian Science Church, Independent. It wasn’t until I came here and began to apply the precepts taught here that I started to experience success in practicing Christian Science in my daily life.
Although I have been around Christian Scientists and participated in various activities since I was very young, I was not taught the correct understanding of Mary Baker Eddy and how to apply these laws of God in my life. I did get glimpses of its possibilities and met sincere students. I do feel that many of my healings were willpower or faith healings because, unlike the healings I experience now, they did not help me feel closer to God, nor help me address sin effectively.
During the time just before I found Plainfield, my son was encouraged by the school to visit a therapist to address debilitating anxiety that was disrupting all areas of his life. He was given things to try, but very little was accomplished toward diminishing his fears during that year or two, except to uncover that he was bullied which steps were taken to alleviate. This took place as I received regular practitioner support, attended classes, Unity Watches, and services, which corrected many misconceptions I had picked up regarding God, prayer, Christian Science and church activity.
As I began to work with a Plainfield practitioner, she helped me in all areas of my life. She was lifting me out of many chronic problems and fears. She helped me change my thinking and behavior patterns with the Science of the Christ. Practicing the precepts taught had a positive impact on my son’s experience, and he began to become more confident; the anxiety diminished as did the bullying, and he became more successful in school. I cherish the beginning of my journey in learning the truth about Mary Baker Eddy and appreciate all she did to give us this universal Science of the Christ.
Looking back to where I began makes me all the more grateful for Christ Jesus, Mary Baker Eddy, and this Independent church.
