“My times are in thy hand.”

Bruce, NJ

There’s a passage from the Psalms that has helped me very frequently, and I love it. It goes like this. “My times are in thy hand.” (Psalm 31 : 15) Imagine that! The things that we do, the timing, the scheduling of the things that we do, it’s all in God’s hands. That’s so important, because there have been times when I have tried to plan it all out myself, and I guess it’s needless to say things did not work out very well. Also, it caused me a lot of mental turmoil worrying about it, which is nothing more than fear, quite frankly.

This line helped me out very recently. There was a day coming up, and it looked like I had this, that, and every other thing, and I was not quite sure what else I was going to have to do. I started to feel a little anxious about it, but then I remembered this passage from the Psalms, “My times are in thy hand.” It helped me to stand up and be firm in my own mind that I was going to trust God with the things I did today, and not only that, but whatever it is that He had for me to do, I would do for His glory, and he would order them. So instead of being concerned about the future or what’s going on, I just knew that the one who orders all things had ordered my steps today, one by one. You know how it says in the Bible that Jesus spoke the word and calmed the tossing sea? Well, my mentality at one time approached this condition of being like a tossing sea, but the word of God stilled it.

I’m so grateful for that. Now I don’t always know what I have to do each day, but that doesn’t bother me because God does. When I’m so firm about my times being in His hand, all of a sudden ideas come to me that I really need to take care of and do, and I don’t think I would have remembered them if I was worried about things. I’m very grateful for God’s word and the inspiration that comes with it, because it makes all things right. I’m so happy to know that.
