Eye Trauma Healed

I would like to express my gratitude for Christian Science, and for all the many healings and blessings I have received through the study and Practice of Mrs. Eddy’s pure Christian Science. I was recently reminded by my practitioner of the importance of remembering and expressing great gratitude, for all that God has done for us throughout our life. I was very grateful for this reminder and also very grateful for being taught here to pray and declare that all Mankind is receptive to the word of God, and to know that the watches and prayers that we do, go out and touch all receptive hearts.

Tonight I would like to share a testimony of the healing power of Christian Science that my husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, experienced through Christian Science prayer. Several years ago, as I was preparing to attend church, I heard my husband calling me to come quickly, that he had been injured and needed help. I found him very distraught holding his eye, saying he could not see and to please call 911. He had been in the process of securing a kayak in the back of his truck with a heavy-duty bungee cord to fasten it when the other end came loose and struck him with great force in his left eye. As we waited for help to arrive, I just kept repeating the fact that there is only the presence of God, and that is all that could be seen.

After many hours in the emergency room we were told by the physician that because of the extent of the trauma done to his eye it would be many weeks for the swelling and severe bruising to subside before they could even say if his eyesight would return and to what extent. We were told that we would have to make daily visits to the office to monitor his progress. I called my practitioner first thing the next morning for prayerful support and was met with great love and compassion, as my practitioner told me that “All the functions of being are as eternal and perfect as God, and that the sight of all mankind exists in this perfection.” I was also given Mrs. Eddy’s definition of eyes found in Science and Health on page 586, and several statements from Bicknell Young's article “Eyes and Ears” to work with.

Clearly the law of receptivity to Truth was active and in operation, for in just two days time the facial swelling and every trace of bruising and pain was gone. At his next appointment with the doctor they were amazed by how quickly and beautifully he was healing and in just a few more days another report that great progress was being made. He had gone from seeing nothing to gaining 40 percent of his vision. A week later we were told that his cornea was now perfectly clear and that his sight was 95 percent restored. I’m happy to say he now has perfect vision.

What a profound proof and demonstration of the allness, presence, and power of God. For only God could have brought this miraculous healing about. I am so grateful to God for his loving presence always, for Christ Jesus, for Mary Baker Eddy, and for Christian Science and its healing truths that restores sight to the blind, and heals every ill. I’m so grateful for my practitioner’s steadfast support, and so grateful for this beautiful church, where we are given the opportunity to share these wonderful demonstrations of the healing power of Christian Science.
