Keeping God Close In Thought Dissipates Fear
Elizabeth, NH
I recently had the opportunity to ride an e-bike spontaneously on a warm weather trip. Having not been on a bicycle for some years I was at first anxious and hesitant at the idea of it but, I caught this as a red flag – indicating that I was believing in a self-hood apart from God. We are taught in Christian Science that God and His idea, man (meaning all mankind) can never, even for an instant, be separated from God/Good; that God and all that He is, is as close to us as our breathing. Our job (if you will) is to keep Him close, by living, seeing, thinking, acting the Good that God is, everywhere. When we are presented with anything unlike God, including negative emotions such as the ones I was experiencing in regard to the bike ride, we must turn them around and see what is really True at that moment.
Back to the ride. Realizing that I, as Idea, was always in Gods care, I took ride. About 10 miles of it, a glorious, fun ride thinking of all of the qualities of God that were being expressed; balance, intelligence, joy, even courage and strength. I was ever so grateful to put fear out and replace it with all wonderful things that God is! Mary Baker Eddy in Science and Health on page 234, “You must control evil thoughts in the first instance, or they will control you in the second.”
I am so very grateful to Christ Jesus for the beautiful example that he set, to Mary Baker Eddy for her courage and diligence in bringing Gods word to all mankind, and to the Plainfield church for all you do to circulate this Truth!.
