Bee Sting Healed

Since coming to Plainfield Christian Science Church, Independent, I have been learning to have a better understanding of the world around me and to use Christian Science to uplift my concept of God’s creatures, environment, and the world all around. In order to see heaven on earth, I must prove daily through Christian Science that God, good is all-in-all and His creation, as all good.

Recently, on a warm summer day, I sat in a chair. I felt a sting from a bee. It was quite painful and a surprise, since I hadn’t realized it was even there. I knew from other experiences that I did not need to suffer from this. I stuck to simple prayers, such as to immediately declare “God, good.” I also held to the “Scientific Statement of Being” by Mary Baker Eddy, found on page 468 of Science and Health. The initial shock and intense pain subsided right away, but the area was still quite tender. Later, I had time to read some more of “No Big Power Veto” by Herbert Rieke, an assignment given during a Roundtable. The part I was reading was about seeing God’s creation around you. He writes, “Here is the thirteenth lie – that animals, birds, etc., as well as man, are made from the ground or matter. Trouble lies in this false belief of material creation. Mrs. Eddy calls the material concept of creation ‘Creation’s counterfeit.’ …What is your concept of all creatures? What names or natures do you attribute unto dogs, cats, bees, spiders, and snakes? Some Christian Scientists still see animals as mortal and material. Be sure that you uplift your concept of all of God’s creatures and then they will never harm you.” (page 55)

I was so grateful for the assignment. I felt the uplift immediately. The pain faded and never returned. No lingering effects, such as I have suffered in the past.

I am so grateful to be learning how to live this Science daily in practical ways and to pray for and bless all mankind. I am grateful to our kind God, for Christ Jesus’ example, Mary Baker Eddy’s writings and example, and my practitioner here who has been instructing me in pure Christian Science.
