Gum Infection Healed Through Prayer

I thank my Plainfield practitioner for her holy prayers and teaching. A recent example of this has to do with my teeth. This began about six months ago when I went for a dental checkup. Ahead of the appointment, I felt afraid, as I had not been to a dentist for a number of years, so I asked my Plainfield Practitioner for her holy prayers, which were given abundantly. She also gave me some excellent citations. Sure enough, it was a wonderful report that the dentist gave about my teeth – and yet at the same appointment, the dentist told me that I had a “gum problem.” He recommended a number of intrusive actions that I decided against. Through the faithful prayers of my Plainfield practitioner and what she gave me to work with, this gum problem and the tooth that had become loosened both healed up perfectly. I was so very grateful!

So when I went for another checkup recently, the previous gum area was all healed, which surprised the dentist, who remarked about it. But then he found another gum area, and he told me it was “a problem.” In the following days, fear crept in, and a tooth became extremely loose. I was very grateful to reason that the earlier problems had been fully healed by God. And so this new area of a problem had nothing to do with my material so-called gums. This had to be an error that I had not handled correctly. So again, I reached out to my patient and loving practitioner at this church, and I felt such Love in her holy prayers and the citations she gave. She instructed me that I had believed in infection, and this caused me to realize through a citation she gave from Joseph Mann that I had been holding a grudge. I had not been thinking towards this dentist, as Joseph Mann instructs we should in his 1923 Class Notes, “Christian Scientists are not running their lives by the key-note of Christianity so long as smug self-satisfaction preserves enough of a personal sense to deal grudgingly with each other, instead of overflowing lovingly and healingly, etc.”

We are taught here truly: that God and God alone holds the only power there is! And that Love and Love alone should comprise all of our thoughts all of the time about every thing. She then gave me some wonderful articles to work with: “Materia Medica” from Watches Prayers and Arguments given by Mary Baker Eddy; and an article entitled “Infection: what it is and how it operates” by Herbert Eustace. So, with these powerful Truths thrilling through my thought I was able to stop worrying about a so-called loose tooth. I said my evening prayers, and as I lay down to sleep, I was very blessed to hear, as read by Bruce on the Church website: “The Unfallen Man” by Peter V Ross. I woke very happy and bright the next morning. After my morning prayers, I gently touched my tooth and found it was about 50 percent less loose than the night before and growing stronger each day! So overnight, God came and healed it! I am very grateful for Christian Science – more than any words can ever convey. God has healed me of many things in my life, physical, spiritual, emotional, and financial. God is always loving and caring for us and tenderly and faithfully leading us home.

I am very grateful to our holy practitioners at this church for teaching us how to truly examine our thoughts – so that any error can be soundly turned out of our lives as we love our God!
