Testimony Meetings Bring Healing
Izzy, England
Some years ago, I had an unexpected healing of a migraine while listening to a testimony meeting. I was feeling pretty terrible and planned to go straight back to bed after the service had ended. I had one eye closed and a dull ache over the left side of my head. They were a pretty common occurrence. During the Lord’s Prayer, in the middle of the service between the readings and the testimonies, I felt the pain in my head and neck move into one place, then it literally whooshed away. It was an incredible healing, and I don’t think I have had a suggestion of a migraine ever since.
2025 is proving to be an interesting year here in England, as this new regime settles in and the net seems to be constantly tightening around us. Very recently, new facial recognition cameras have been installed on the main road I take to drive to work. There are tall poles every few hundred yards, each equipped with numerous cameras pointing directly into vehicles. I find them very intrusive and drive with my sun visor down, and try to know that there is just one Infinite Mind. To my surprise, no one else seems to notice them.
Shortly after the cameras came in, a notice came via social media that a local dog walking place had new rules. Dogs now had to be on leashes, with a fine of £1,000. It seemed completely draconian, and was very depressing, as this was one of the few places my dogs could run freely without fear of chasing sheep or being near a road, and it’s such a wonderful, peaceful feeling when you know your dogs have had a good run.
The day I learned of this rule, on top of the new cameras, I felt really, really low, and wasn’t Sure, how to even begin to handle all of this. I then remembered that I hadn’t yet listened to the testimony meeting. I listened to the recording and found relevance to this nonsense in the readings and in every testimony. Every single one of the testimonies had something helpful in it. By the end of the recording, I felt so much better. As the days unfolded, I learned that the leash rule actually applied only to a small walkway leading to the open land. The signs are deliberately ambiguous, perhaps to cause confusion and conflict. It was a huge relief and a reminder to not always believe what first appears to be true. I’m so grateful to Mrs Eddy for this wonderful legacy, and I’m so grateful to everyone who takes part.
