Huge Storm Adverted Through Prayer

Silvia, Australia

When I spoke to my son who works in Karratha – a mining town in Western Australia (WA) on Thursday evening. He told me all the employees had been flown to Perth 2 hours south because of the threat of Tropical Cyclone Zelia and many residents were evacuated by helicopter. It was a category 5 cyclone and was expected to hit both Karratha and Port Hedland on Friday. I immediately affirmed “Only God is in control.” However I became concerned when I woke up on Friday morning and read the news which said, “Extreme wind gusts of up to 320 kph are forecast to hit the Pilbara region of WA on Friday, as Tropical Cyclone Zelia barrels towards the coast, with the forecast track map putting it dangerously close to Australia's biggest iron ore export port at Port Hedland. The severe tropical cyclone is likely to cross the coast between Port Hedland and Karratha late Friday or early Saturday.”

I personally had once experienced winds of 120 kph which I had found very scary but 320 kph sounded absolutely terrifying. I was extremely worried. I contacted my practitioner and asked if the weather committee at Plainfield could please take up prayers about the cyclone. After a short while, I was sent a message to say that they were onto it. An hour later, I felt much more serene about the situation and went off to work affirming that omnipotent Mind was in control. When I was on my lunch break, I checked the news again and it said the cyclone had been downgraded to category 4 and had drifted east missing Karratha and Port Hedland and had made landfall in a remote area. Soon after it then quickly weakened. On Saturday morning the Bureau of Meteorology advised that the cyclone event has ended. There was however still flooding in many areas.

On a talk show that morning, a question was asked how the threat of the cyclone seemed so severe a couple of days ago and then it became a tropical low. The reply that was given spoke about counteracting forces within the cyclone. I knew the answer was the result of prayers by the weather watchers at Plainfield Church. The news said, "We've had no reports of anyone being injured, which is our primary concern, and some minor damage to homes and property. Port Hedland is often referred to as the engine room of WA and Australia itself. With everything considered, we’ve done very well.”

I am profoundly grateful for this outcome as I’m sure are many of the inhabitants and workforce in that area. A big thank you to the weather watchers at Plainfield for their deep understanding of putting into practice our leader’s teachings.
